The new house closes in a week. I have been working on getting things packed--which is not an easy task with our current house on the market and showing. I have more drawers filled with "stuff". Just stuff. I wonder why it ended up in a drawer instead of the trash. We need to be as lean as possible since our new house is a third smaller than our current one. So I am working at filling the dumpster.
The porch rails were put around the porch yesterday. It makes the porch look so much larger--and now I don't have to worry about Jim falling off the porch. For some reason he always ended up standing on the porch with his heels off the edge. I dont know if he did that to scare me or for just the personal satisfaction of doing it. As I figure it we will be moved in about the time school starts--which means the pool across the street will be fairly empty, to enjoy the last few weeks that it's open.
The cats have figured out that something is happening. When Boomer sees us packing he starts army crawling around the house--like if we don't see him we won't leave. He is the one who has lived in 3 states, 5 apartments ( he was a college cat for awhile) and now two houses--you would think he would have it down by now. Yoda Beth could care less, she will follow us to where ever we put the food bowl, just like the dogs.
Vintage towhship is like going back in time, where the kids ride bikes and go barefooted, and the moms call them in for dinner. It is almost like we are moving to Mayberry. We will be able to walk to the Bistro, plays at the amphitheater, neighborhood activities in Founder's Park and soon lots of little shops. It is already slow paced in Lubbock but this will be even more relaxing.
