Windows

Every trip we take, I photograph windows....sort of quirky I guess, however on this trip I met someone who phtographs doors...so maybe not.  I picked up a couple of doors myself this time.
 Pitiful little too short curtains.
Door on a dock storage building.
 Typical German curtains
Loved the date on this one.
All a like but noticed what is in each window.  These were on a building across from the Bamberg City Hall.  This one had candles.

 Flowers
 Anitque phonographs.

I coudo not find a translation...except htat the word is Danish.  It is similar to a German word which means pottery so I guess I will go with that.

Elegant way to decorate a door for Christmas.

Festive way to decorate a door in Bamberg.
This looks like it could have been a preschool.

This door had a pole in the middle and swiveled closed.

More river....

One of those large churches in a tiny town....
A Heron like bird snoozing on the river bank
Cruising into Aschaffenburg the Johannisburg Palace came into view.  It has a huge collection of paintings including ones by the old masters as well as a collection of 200 RACE CARS!!

The family
The ship we were on had  porthole type windows just above the water line.  These for the most part were crew quarters.  Each morning wherever we were docked, the swans would swim a long the row of windows pecking on each window until one would open and feed them. They were so spoiled.  They would come and sit in teh water by the windows when we were at dinner....just looking and being social.

And then there was the River Main.......

The nice thing about a river cruise is that even when you want to sit and chill there are always things to see.  Jim and I hit every excursion possible but some people were content to sit int he lounge and watch Germany slide by....I could have easily enjoyed that just as much.  My cat-like nature won out and I was always I was afriad I would miss something.  There are tie when you di just sit on the ship and watch....which is charming.  Here are a few pics from those quiet times.
